KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BP)–Anthony Allen has been named vice president for administration at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo., effective June 1.
Allen, who joins Midwestern’s staff as the seminary is embarking on an $8.7 million capital campaign, has worked the past 16 years at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., as vice president for financial development and, earlier, assistant to the vice president for institutional advancement. He also has experience in admissions and student recruitment and has served as a pastor and interim pastor.
“Anthony Allen brings great depth of experience and extensive knowledge to Midwestern,” MBTS President R. Philip Roberts said. “He also has a great passion for the Lord and for the Lord’s work. It is a blessing for Midwestern to have him as our vice president of administration.”
Allen said he has known Roberts for 16 years and worked with him while he was a professor at Southeastern Seminary, including training itinerant evangelists in Moscow, Russia, and doing missions work in Oradea, Romania.
Currently, Allen is finishing a doctorate in higher education administration from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., and expects to graduate in August. Prior to his studies at NC State, Allen earned both a master of theology and a master of divinity in biblical languages from Southeastern. He earned his undergraduate degree in history and religion from Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Allen and his wife Stacy met and married in 1994. Stacy also is a graduate of SEBTS, where she earned both the master of divinity and master of arts in Christian counseling degrees. They have four children, Bethany, Evan, Leighton and Annaliese.
“I believe that Midwestern has achieved some solid milestones in the past five years under the leadership of Dr. Phil Roberts,” Allen said. “I firmly believe that God is doing a great work at Midwestern. He has placed Midwestern strategically in the heartland of America so that it might exalt Christ and further the Gospel.”
