    PROVIDENCE, R.I. (BP) -- "An interdisciplinary critique of theistic evolution" was the topic of a half-day session at this fall's meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS).

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. (BP) -- "The Heritage of the Reformation" was the theme at this year's annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society, where Southern Baptists delivered nearly a third of the gathering's presentations and Trinity International University President David Dockery was elected president.

    According to a count by Baptist Press, some 185 of the Nov. 15-17 meeting's approximately 600 presentations were offered by scholars with ties to Southern Baptist churches, Southern Baptist Convention seminaries and colleges that partner with Baptist state conventions. Read More

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas (BP) -- A biblical argument for congregational singing, insights for planning worship and a case for multigenerational worship services are among the music-related topics being discussed by Southern Baptist theologians.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas (BP) -- The Trinity theme of last week's Evangelical Theological Society annual meeting spurred the continuation of an online debate and provided a venue for application of the Trinity to a variety of disciplines.

  • ETS meeting: 'Southern Baptists everywhere'

    SAN DIEGO (BP) -- When Richard Melick joined the Evangelical Theological Society in 1975, he only knew of two other Southern Baptists who were involved in the group.

    "In contrast, today you can't walk down the hall [at an ETS meeting] without seeing Southern Baptists everywhere," Melick, distinguished professor of New Testament studies at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, told Baptist Press. "And I think that's a good thing. Both university and seminary professors are very involved." Read More
