    WASHINGTON (BP) -- A new devotional plan connects Bible reading to the Winter Olympics and gives readers insight into how the Bible has affected current and former Olympians.

    Produced by the Museum of the Bible, "Winter Olympics and the Bible" is a 10-day plan available for free on the YouVersion Bible app and at Bible.com.

    Smocket (a made-up competition) is featured in "Game On!" -- the 2018 Vacation Bible School theme from LifeWay Christian Resources.

  • 'Must-see' Bible museum opens to public

    WASHINGTON (BP) -- Protestant, Catholic and Jewish leaders from the U.S. and Israel joined Museum of the Bible board chairman Steve Green to dedicate the eight-story attraction in Washington today (Nov. 17) in advance of this weekend's public opening.

    The more-than-$500-million structure, located blocks from Capitol Hill at 400 4th St. S.W., opened exclusively to the media Nov. 14 and 15, and held a special dedication and ribbon cutting from 8 a.m.–noon today. The museum doors open to the general public 9 a.m. on Saturday. While admission is free, timed tickets are required and entry is restricted to 15-minute intervals. Read More

  • Nationwide Bible drive hosted by LifeWay stores

    NASHVILLE (BP) -- Customers often leave LifeWay Christian Stores with new Bibles in their hands. But for five days in November, they will also be bringing Bibles into the stores -- to donate to others.

    On Nov. 17-22, LifeWay will host a nationwide Bible drive at all of its stores to collect copies of God's Word to donate to mission organizations and local ministries.

    "Customers are invited to visit their local LifeWay store and donate their gently used Bibles or purchase new ones [to be donated]," said Nathan Magness, director of marketing strategy. Read More

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (BP) -- An event encouraging students to take their Bibles to school Thursday (Oct. 5) is increasingly pertinent as the nation deals with natural disasters and man-made atrocities, event founder Candi Cushman told Baptist Press.

    Cushman, a Focus on the Family (FOTF) education advocate, founded the national "Bring Your Bible to School Day" in 2014 to advocate and preserve students' rights to share their faith at school.     MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BP) -- Dawn Rush was horrified when her teenage daughter, Ashley, started drawing in her Bible.

    "She was writing all over the Word of God!" said Rush, who attends New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. "She kept asking me to paint in her Bible. That gave me panic attacks."

    But treating Scripture as a canvas wasn't a sign of disrespect, Rush discovered. Instead, it helped Ashley connect with God as she overcame severe depression. Read More
