Wyoming Baptists meet their new state missionaryMILLS, Wyo. (BP) -- Two standing ovations marked a leadership transition during the Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network's 35th annual meeting.
Lynn Nikkel retired after 13 years as state missionary plus five previous years as the state convention's religious education director. He first moved to Wyoming from Oklahoma in 1994 to pastor Memorial Baptist Church in Wheatland, serving there six years.
Quin Williams, pastor since 1996 of Boyd Avenue Baptist Church in Casper, was approved Sept. 14 by the convention's Executive Board as the new state missionary, effective Nov. 1. Williams came to Wyoming after pastoring in Texas for 17 years. Read More
Wyoming Baptists elect new leader Quin WilliamsCASPER, Wyo. (BP) -- Quin Williams is the new State Missionary of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network.
Approved by the convention's executive board during its Sept. 14 meeting, Williams will be presented to messengers as the executive leader Nov. 1 during their 35th annual meeting at Mountain View Baptist Church in Mills, near Casper. Williams will begin his new role that same day.

'It's time': Wyo. exec. Lynn Nikkel to retireCASPER, Wyo. (BP) -- Lynn Nikkel is retiring from more than 13 years of executive leadership of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network to pursue church ministry opportunities in Oklahoma.
"It's time," Nikkel told Baptist Press Aug. 30. "I've been here through a lot of changes and transition, and it's time for the network to take a new direction, to have some fresh leadership with fresh eyes to move forward into the future.
"And it's also time for me and my family ... to move on and make a change as well," Nikkel said. He leaves the network, formerly the Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention, in December, and plans to relocate to Oklahoma where he has family members and has pastored two congregations. Read More
Wyoming Baptists adopt new convention nameCASPER, Wyo. (BP) -- The new name of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention is Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network, messengers decided during their 34th annual meeting on Nov. 2-3.
Wyoming Baptists also approved selling the property on Casper Mountain Road that it has owned for 23 years, a budget $110,000 smaller than last year's budget, changing the name of its state missions offering, and a re-working of responsibilities for state convention vocational staff. Read More
