  • Nigeria pastor’s wife killed by Muslim mob

    KANO, Nigeria (BP) --- Nigerian officials scrambled to calm religious tensions after Muslims in Kano state killed a Christian pastor’s wife on a baseless “blasphemy” charge, according to reports.

    Bridget Agbahime, a kitchen utensil vendor at Kano city’s Kofar Wambai Market, was killed June 2 after she asked a Muslim engaged in ritual Islamic cleansing, identified as Alhaji Dauda, to move his ritual from her shopfront. She had had similar conflicts with the suspect.

    On this occasion she politely asked him to move the ritual to a corner as she still had customers at the end of the work day, according to online reports. Dauda became upset but left after a crowd began to gather. Read More

    DEARBORN, Mich. (BP) -- Southern Baptist pastor Carlos Liese recalls entering a mosque near Dearborn, Mich., sitting on the floor with Islamists and sharing the Gospel. An elderly Muslim man who said little during the conversation invited Liese to his home.

    "And they had just told us we were going to hell, and we had gently told them that they were going to hell too, in a gracious way," Liese told Baptist Press. "But we stood our ground. We shared the Gospel and it was well received again, even though we ended up not agreeing." Read More
