Centennial, Mission:Dignity atop GuideStone reportDALLAS (BP) -- O.S. Hawkins brought the 100th report of GuideStone Financial Resources on Tuesday morning to messengers at the Southern Baptist Convention during their June 12–13 in Dallas.
Hawkins noted the privilege GuideStone has had of living out its founder's vision.
"A century ago, our founder, William Lunsford, stood before the Southern Baptist Convention in Hot Springs, Ark., and told pastors, 'Give yourselves wholeheartedly to the work. We will stand back of you. If you fall in the work, we will care for you. If you die, we will not allow your family to suffer. If you grow old in the work, we will comfort you in your declining years,'" Hawkins recounted. Read More
TRUSTEES: GuideStone's 2018 year of 'new beginnings'DALLAS (BP) -- This year's 100th anniversary of the founding of GuideStone Financial Resources will be a time to glance to the past but remain focused on the ministry's future, GuideStone President O.S. Hawkins told trustees during their Feb. 26-27 meeting in Dallas.
Each year Hawkins frames the upcoming 12 months with a verse of Scripture and a theme, with 2018 being the Year of New Beginnings, drawn from Ruth 1:16–17.
In addition to the annual theme, trustees elected a new board chair and vice chair and heard reports from the Southern Baptist entity's various ministry areas. Trustees also toured the location of GuideStone's new offices, to which the ministry will relocate in late summer. Read More

Rob Zinn, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, Calif., part of the fast-growing Inland Empire region, was stirred when he read the book while returning from a GuideStone trustee meeting.

In new book, Hawkins redefines 'VIP'DALLAS (BP) -- GuideStone President O.S. Hawkins, a golfer since boyhood, says his favorite holes to play are the par threes. "It only takes one really good shot out of three to make par," Hawkins noted.
But while one good shot out of three can lead to success on a golf course par three, it doesn't lead to success for influential people, he acknowledged. It takes all three factors -- vision, integrity and purpose -- to be men and women of influence. That's the thesis behind Hawkins' newest book, "VIP: How to Influence with Vision, Integrity, and Purpose." Hawkins said influential people must possess a clear vision, high integrity and a God-given purpose that drives them each and every day. Read More
Putting feet to faith: O.S. Hawkins' 'James Code'DALLAS (BP) -- When you get down to it, there are really only three relationships in life, GuideStone President O.S. Hawkins says: an upward relationship between man and God; an inward relationship with oneself; and an outward relationship between man and the world around him.
Those three relationships exist regardless of time or place -- a lesson Hawkins learned throughout 25 years as a pastor, from wheat-farming country in Oklahoma to cosmopolitan and business centers in Fort Lauderdale and Dallas. They spurred the creation of a now ... Read More
