Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said at the National Religious Broadcasters' First Amendment Lunch in Washington on May 3.
"Religious freedom, freedom of speech and the freedom of the press -- along with the other rights recognized and respected within the Bill of Rights -- are all threatened even as other rights are marginalized," Mohler said during the NRB gathering on Capitol Hill sponsored by In Touch Ministries. Free speech mission 'indispensable,' says NRB leaderORLANDO, Fla. (BP) -- Protecting the freedom of speech is as vital to the National Religious Broadcasters' mission today as it was when the association was founded in 1944, the group's president and CEO, Jerry A. Johnson, said.
Johnson gave his State of the Association speech in Orlando, Fla., at the Orlando World Center Marriott in the opening session of Proclaim 17, NRB's International Christian Media Convention. During the session, he also read a statement regarding the terrorist killing of 49 people and injury to 53 others at the city's Pulse nightclub in June. The statement -- affirmed unanimously by both NRB's Executive Committee and Board of Directors -- expressed compassion for victims, as well as their family and friends, and led into a time of prayer. Floyd to take revival message to NRBNASHVILLE (BP) -- Ronnie Floyd, president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a key advocate urging prayer for spiritual awakening in America, will take that message to the National Religious Broadcasters in a Feb. 25 worship service during the NRB annual convention in Nashville.
