    JACKSON, Mich. (BP) -- The Baptist State Convention of Michigan authorized its Executive Board to sell the convention's office building in Fenton, Mich., and adopted an increased 2019 budget.

    Messengers to the BSCM annual meeting also launched a church planting and revitalization partnership with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and adopted resolutions affirming "the dignity and worth of women" and denouncing domestic abuse.

    INKSTER, Mich. (BP) -- Michigan Baptists increased their budget 31 percent from the current year and pledged prayer for the Texas church where a gunman massacred 26 people Nov. 5.

    Messengers to the Baptist State Convention of Michigan also eliminated shared ministry expenses from their budget and anticipated increasing the total Cooperative Program amount forwarded to Southern Baptist Convention causes by some 16 percent above the amount received by the SBC during its 2016-17 fiscal year.   • Mich. Baptists increase CP allocation to SBC

    BURTON, Mich. (BP) -- Michigan Baptists will forward a larger percentage of Cooperative Program receipts to the Southern Baptist Convention this year, despite an anticipated decrease in CP receipts from the state's 262 churches.

    The $1,292,886 in CP funds the Baptist State Convention of Michigan (BSCM) anticipates receiving from its cooperating churches in 2017 is 8.6 percent less than this year's receipts of $1,415,291, the BSCM reported. Yet, the state will forward $351,256 of 2016 CP receipts, 32.5 percent of the total, to the SBC for national and international causes.     BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (BP) -- Michigan Baptists adopted a new constitution and bylaws designed to allow the convention to function in harmony and unity, Executive Director Tim Patterson told Baptist Press.

    HOLT, Mich. (BP) -- Tim Patterson, a national mobilizer for the North American Mission Board and former Florida pastor, has been elected executive director-treasurer of the Baptist State Convention of Michigan.
