    NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (BP) -- Messengers to the Baptist Convention of New York increased giving to Southern Baptist Convention missions and ministries for the fourth year in a row and heard a report on the sale of the convention's office building in East Syracuse, N.Y.

    The BCNY also kicked off its 50th year of ministry and approved creation of a team to cast vision for the future. A total of 82 messengers from 56 churches attended the Sept. 23-25 sessions at Trinity Baptist Church in Niskayuna, just northwest of Albany. Read More

    RANDOLPH, N.J. (BP) -- Messengers to the Baptist Convention of New York increased giving to Southern Baptist Convention missions and ministries for the third year in a row and amended the convention's constitution to affirm the biblical definitions of marriage and gender.

    SCHROON LAKE, N.Y. (BP) -- Messengers to the Baptist Convention of New York increased giving to Southern Baptist Convention missions and ministries for the second year in a row and discussed proposals to affirm the biblical definitions of marriage and gender in the convention's constitution.

    Messengers also heard addresses from SBC Executive Committee President Frank S. Page and Todd Starnes of Fox News during their Sept. 25-27 sessions at Word of Life Conference Center in Schroon Lake, N.Y.     BUFFALO, N.Y. (BP) -- As Nepal works to recover from two massive earthquakes within 17 days, a Nepalese Southern Baptist church planter in Buffalo, N.Y. is readying to travel to his homeland to help those in need, including his three sisters left homeless.

    Purna "John" Tamang, pastor of Saransthan International Fellowship, said his sisters are living in tents in Kathmandu and other communities. Tamang described them as Christians telling others of Jesus Christ. Read More

    NEW YORK (BP) -- Samuel G. Simpson, a retired Southern Baptist leader and New York pastor known for a legacy of faith, vision and integrity, died Feb. 23 at his home in Bronx, New York. He was 83.

    Simpson served two terms as president of the Baptist Convention of New York, was the founding pastor of the Bronx Baptist Church and Wake-Eden Community Baptist Church, both in New York, and was a Home Mission Board (North American Mission Board) missionary. He was often called the "Bishop of the Bronx." Read More
