FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Priscilla Shirer's new journey tackles spiritual warfare
NASHVILLE (BP) -- A conversation with her sons over scrambled eggs one morning led best-selling author Priscilla Shirer on a new writing journey that addresses spiritual warfare.After seeing the way a story captured the imagination of her oldest son and fielding questions from two of her sons on spiritual warfare, Shirer had the idea of communicating that very real topic using a fictional story.
The initial idea became the young adult novel, "The Prince Warriors," which follows bickering brothers Xavier and Evan, along with several friends and classmates, into the mysterious land of Ahoratos. Tenn. Bible bill veto sustained
NASHVILLE (BP) -- An attempt to override Republican Gov. Bill Haslam's veto of a bill that would have made the Bible the official state book of Tennessee failed Wednesday (April 20).After nearly two hours of discussion, members of the Tennessee House of Representatives voted 50-43 against overriding the veto, The Tennessean reported. An override would have required only a simple majority in both chambers of the state legislature, a margin it achieved comfortably upon initial passage. Read More
