|Believers in Baghdad|
More than 200 people gather each week at the National Evangelical Baptist Church in Baghdad, which opened in January. Reports indicate people are accepting Christ and being baptized each week at the first Baptist church ever established in Iraq, and a second church will start soon. BAGHDAD, Iraq (BP)--Media coverage of Iraq has grown largely negative, and some American leaders are saying the decision to go to war was wrong and is a growing waste of taxpayer dollars. Footage of increased insurgent attacks and videotaped beheadings of hostages mostly depict a losing effort, but there is another side to the story that is far less publicized.
While addressing a joint session of Congress Sept. 23, Iraqi interim prime minister Ayad Allawi said simply, "Thank you, America."
