3,202 decisions for Christ reported in BrazilBELO HORIZONTE, Brazil (BP) -- Southern Baptists returning from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, are sharing testimonies of widespread revival in churches, communities, prisons and schools, following an 8-day schedule of crusades, medical ministries and other outreach efforts in this South American country.
Wayne Jenkins, director of evangelism and church growth for the Louisiana Baptist Convention, said there were a recorded 3,202 salvation decisions resulting from events conducted July 10-17. Read More

SBDR deploying 4 kitchens to south LouisianaALPHARARETTA, Ga. (BP) -- The death toll in south Louisiana's unprecedented flooding has risen to 11, and at least 40,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed. In response, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) is deploying volunteers, equipment and resources to the affected area, including four kitchens in Baton Rouge, Hammond, Lafayette and Walker.
The American Red Cross has requested four kitchens which each have capacity of 10,000 meals per day. All four DR teams deploying have twice that capacity. Additional support is expected given the scope of the disaster and the long-term nature of the relief work to be accomplished. Read More
'On cloud 29,' says pastor given church buildingNASHVILLE (BP) -- Dwayne Lewis and members of New Season Baptist Church walked from their temporary meeting place at an elementary school to a vacant church building across the street where the 150 men, women and children laid hands on the building and prayed.
"All of us we went over there and we believed God for that building, but that wasn't the building," Lewis told Baptist Press, saying that God "was just testing our faith to see if we'd just step out and do that."

Ind. exec Cecil Seagle to end 5-year serviceMARTINSVILLE, Ind. (BP) -- Cecil W. Seagle will end five years of service as executive director of the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana on Dec. 16.
Seagle, 76, made the announcement during the opening session of the SCBI Executive Board's Aug. 15-16 meeting at the Indiana convention's Highland Lakes Baptist Camp in Martinsville.
Seagle was elected as SCBI executive director on Nov. 1, 2011, after serving eight months as interim executive director, a role he assumed after 22 years as the Florida Baptist Convention's missions division director. Read More
