Lottie Moon mission gifts top $153 millionRICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- As they plan creative new ways to reach the lost, International Mission Board and Woman's Missionary Union leaders expressed gratitude to Southern Baptists for the generous support churches gave to the 2014 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions.
Finalized in early June, the 2014 Lottie Moon offering totaled $153,002,394.13 -- the second-highest total in the 126-year history of the offering. Read More

N.C. passes 72-hour abortion wait period
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (BP) -- North Carolina's state legislature approved a bill Wednesday (June 3) that extends the state's abortion waiting period to 72-hours, joining four other states that have passed similar legislation.

Registration secretary seeks 14th termCOLUMBUS, Ohio (BP) -- James T. Draper, formerly a pastor, Southern Baptist Convention president and president of LifeWay Christian Resources, has announced he will nominate Jim Wells, strategic partners team leader for the Missouri Baptist Convention, for his 14th term as SBC registration secretary during the SBC's annual meeting, June 16-17.
"I've known Jim for 50 years and have great confidence in him," Draper said, adding he "watched him mature as a very excellent leader in the convention." Read More
