Midwestern, filmmaker partner for Spurgeon documentaryKANSAS, Mo. (BP) -- A new documentary on the life and legacy of 19th century British preacher Charles Spurgeon, set for release today (Dec. 18), prominently features two Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary leaders and the Kansas City-based school's Charles H. Spurgeon Library.
The film entitled, "Through the Eyes of Spurgeon," was directed and produced by Canadian filmmaker, Stephen McCaskell. He said the goal of the documentary is to introduce a new generation to Spurgeon in the hopes that their relationship with God will be challenged and deepened as they learn more about "The Prince of Preachers," who was radically transformed by the Gospel. Asia churches forming Hawaii Pacific assoc.
KIHEI, Maui (BP) -- Five churches in South Korea and Japan are working to establish a new association of Baptist churches within the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention.
The churches voiced their intentions at the HPBC annual meeting, Hawaii Pacific Baptist executive director Chris Martin told Baptist Press. The churches are already aligned with and supporting Hawaii Pacific convention work, he said, but want to officially organize an association across the Pacific Ocean. Read More
Montana Baptists increase CP giving
BILLINGS, Mont. (BP) -- Montana Baptists will send one percent more of their Cooperative Program receipts to national and international Southern Baptist Convention causes in 2015 than in 2014.
Messengers to the Montana annual meeting and pastors’ conference voted to give to the national SBC 25 percent of an anticipated $523,000 in Cooperative Program gifts from Montana churches, compared to the 24 percent given this year, Montana Baptists reported to Baptist Press. The state’s 2015 total budget is $1,140,543. Read More
