North American Mission Board President Geoff  Hammond concluded his report moments ago and gave messengers an update on the God's Plan for Sharing (GPS) initiative, which has launched and has a goal of seeing every Southern Baptist church planting churches by 2020.

"We're about to embark on the largest, most extended" evangelism initiative "that we have ever seen," he said. The associations and the 42 state conventions "have signed up for this challenge" and "have joined hands" in partnership, he said.

Messengers were given a paperback book by Hammond titled, "God's Plan for Sharing; North America: Your Mission Field."

Hammond told about an ministry outreach in the Appalachians and said, "Do you realize there are  … kids growing up in the United States of America that have never heard the Christmas story?"
