Horror stories abound from abortion clinic

WASHINGTON (BP))–Horror stories abound regarding the practice of Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell.

Federal agents raided Gosnell’s west Philadelphia clinic, the Women’s Medical Society, in February, and state authorities temporarily suspended his medical license.

Conditions at the clinic were “deplorable and unsanitary,” the suspension order said, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. “There was blood on the floor, and parts of aborted fetuses were displayed in jars.”

Philadelphia’s CBS-TV affiliate reported investigators found the bodies of more than two dozen unborn babies stored in a freezer. Some were 30 years old, according to the TV station.

The Philadelphia Daily News reported the following March 11:

— The deaths of at least two women have been linked to the clinic. Karnamay Mongar died after an abortion at the clinic in November. State officials said an unlicensed employee medicated Mongar.

— Several women went public with allegations they were seriously injured as a result of abortions by Gosnell. Some said organs were damaged, while others said parts of their unborn babies were left inside their bodies.

— The National Abortion Federation (NAF) refused to approve Gosnell’s request for membership after a December visit. “There were 19 areas where [the clinic] was in noncompliance with our guidelines,” NAF’s president, Vicki Saporta, told the Daily News. “It was quite extensive.”

— Delaware officials suspended Gosnell’s medical license to practice in the state March 2.
