New Hope named Publisher of the Year

DENVER (BP)–New Hope Publishers has been named Publisher of the Year by the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association — the first AWSA win for the trade books arm of Woman’s Missionary Union.

New Hope had been nominated for the award in years past and was a finalist last year.

The Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) encompasses more than 250 top Christian women communicators who both publish books and speak around the country.

Founded in 2000, AWSA is a professional support organization open to Christian women communicators who meet at least two of the following requirements: written at least two books, have a radio or television ministry, serve a national columnist for a major publication and speak to groups of 100 at least three times a year across state lines.

The New Hope honor was presented during AWSA’s Golden Scroll Banquet July 12 prior to the annual CBA (Association for Christian Retail) trade show in Denver.

“The New Hope Publishers staff is elated to have this honor bestowed by our authors,” said Andrea Mullins, publisher of New Hope, based in Birmingham, Ala. “We treasure the partnership we share with this impressive organization. We will continue to develop our relationship with our authors by seeking to bring Jesus Christ to the world through their ministry as writers.”

The keynote message for the AWSA banquet was New Hope author Jennifer Kennedy Dean, author of more than 10 books, including the National Day of Prayer signature book “Heart’s Cry” and the best-selling “Live a Praying Life.” Six other New Hope authors were present at the banquet.

The AWSA honor follows the selection of three New Hope products as Resources of the Year by Outreach magazine this spring: “City Signals” by Brad Smith, the accompanying “City Signals DVD Leader Kit” by Ray Bakke and “Faces in the Crowd” by Donna S. Thomas.

Representing more than 50 authors and more than 100 individual works, the mission of New Hope Publishers is to provide books that challenge readers to understand and be radically involved in the mission of God.

New Hope Publishers is the general trade publishing imprint for WMU, a missions auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Convention, and a member of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
