Pastors’ wives focus: ‘Women of Truth’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)–“Women of Truth” will be the theme of the annual Pastors’ Wives Conference of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Pastors’ Conference, with keynote speakers Elizabeth Luter and Mary Kassian.

The conference, from 8:30-11:20 a.m. Monday, June 22, will be in Rooms South B101-105 of the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. It is free of charge, with no registration needed. Doors open at 8 a.m.

Luter serves as women’s ministry leader at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans where her husband Fred is pastor. Kassian is distinguished professor of women’s studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

“The purpose of this session from the beginning has been for ministers’ wives to minister to other ministers’ wives,” said Donna Gaines of Cordova, Tenn., who has led in the planning of this year’s session. “As both speakers address the theme, ministers’ wives will be reminded of choosing to live life according to God’s Word.”

The conference will provide an opportunity for friendships to develop through small group prayer and fellowship at the close of the morning, with Gaines noting, “We want to give the women an opportunity to connect with other ministers’ wives. No one understands our role like another minister’s’ wife.”
