Sullivan released from hospital

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (BP)–John Sullivan, executive director-treasurer of the Florida Baptist Convention, was released from Jacksonville’s Memorial Medical Center May 11.

“Doctors determined that the 69-year-old Sullivan had made such a speedy recovery from the May 8 insertion of an arterial stint, no further hospitalization was needed,” Don Hepburn, director of the convention’s public relations division, wrote to FBC staff in an e-mail May 11.

“Doctors characterized the arterial blockage that brought on the ‘mild heart attack’ as more of ‘a fluke’ than having been caused by the ‘typical’ heart related problems of poor diet, stress or thrombosis (blockage caused by a blood clot).”

Sullivan was “in good spirits when released from the hospital” and “said the doctors have not place any significant restrictions on his activities,” Hepburn continued. As a result, Sullivan will attend the Florida convention’s state board of missions meeting at Blue Springs Baptist Conference in Marianna, May 18-19.
