NAMB’s Stetzer to lead Younger Leader Summit II

GREENSBORO, N.C. (BP)–Ed Stetzer of the North American Mission Board has been named as the moderator of the Younger Leaders Summit II, slated for June 12 in Greensboro, N.C.

Stetzer, NAMB’s research team director and resident missiologist, was among the speakers at the first Younger Leaders Summit in Nashville last year.

According to a news release from Georgia pastor Marty Duren, who had been serving as the meeting’s principle organizer, Stetzer has been involved with Jimmy Draper, former president of LifeWay Christian Resources, since the early days of the Younger Leaders initiative.

Stetzer “now has the opportunity to continue to take that legacy in a direction of missional engagement,” the news release stated. “Stetzer, along with former NAMB President Bob Reccord was instrumental in forming the Missional Young Leader Task Force.” Stetzer will present the next steps in NAMB’s missional ministry initiative during the June 12 meeting, the news release stated.

“I am glad to help Southern Baptists think about what it means to be biblically faithful and reach people in culture,” Stetzer said. “This meeting will be a time to celebrate such ministry.”

With Stetzer in the lead role, Duren said, “This will allow the event to be completely focused on engaging young leaders in missional ministry.”

The Young Leaders Summit II will take place from 10-10:45 p.m. on Monday at the War Memorial Auditorium following the last session of the Pastors’ Conference. There is no charge and all are invited. Draper, International Mission Board President Jerry Rankin and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary President Jeff Iorg are confirmed speakers.
