Golden Gate alumni honor goes to Tom Stringfellow

INDIANAPOLIS (BP)–Tom Stringfellow, pastor of First Baptist Church in Beverly Hills, Calif., received Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary’s 2004 Alumni Achievement Award during the Seminary’s Alumni and Friends Luncheon in Indianapolis June 16.

Stringfellow holds a master of religious education, master of divinity and doctor of ministry from the seminary. He also teaches as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate’s Southern California in Brea.

He has pastored churches throughout California for the past 35 years.

In 1999 Stringfellow led his church in an extensive missions project in southeastern Arkansas where the church ministered to more than 500 children by providing clothing and other needed resources. The Beverly Hills congregation raised $75,000 to provide resources to children who live in a high poverty school district of Arkansas. The church also ministers to migrant workers in the Southern California area.

Attendees also heard from the seminary’s president-elect, Jeff Iorg, who will begin his presidency in August. Iorg shared with the audience his passion for evangelism, the family and the local church. He currently is the executive director of the Northwest Baptist Convention in Oregon and Portland.

Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary is a Cooperative Program ministry of the Southern Baptist Convention and operates five campuses in Northern California, Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona and Colorado.
