FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)–A five-part special on the FamilyNet television network will tackle the tough issue of abortion from the perspective of those who have experienced it. The series, titled “Hope Restored,” will air Jan. 19-23 at 9 p.m. Eastern on FamilyNet, a subsidiary of the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board.
Through the personal testimonies of men and women who have experienced pregnancy termination, the series will reveal the various issues they encountered — and how they experienced true recovery from the loss.
Hope Restored also will present an in-depth look at abortion alternatives, featuring testimonies from women who chose to carry their unplanned pregnancies to term. As part of the panel discussions, experienced crisis pregnancy counselors and post-abortion recovery counselors will provide clinical insight on the issue and offer specific steps and resources for those facing such circumstances.
“This program is designed to offer hope and healing to women and men who have been impacted by pregnancy loss through termination,” Trish Ragsdale, the series’ producer, said. “While many women facing unplanned pregnancies believe termination is the solution to their crisis, the results of this decision can leave devastating physical and emotional scars for years to come.”
As a conclusion to the series, a panel of professional counselors will take live telephone calls from viewers who have questions, who need help with a crisis situation or who simply feel a need to share their story.
Tammy Maltby, an author, speaker and television personality and mother of four who has spent more than 20 years working with crisis pregnancy centers, will host the series.
