Wed. evening session with IMB, Ziglar to cap SBC annual meeting in Phoenix

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–A Wednesday evening session will return to the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting this June in Phoenix.

The closing session of the convention Wednesday evening, June 18, will include the International Mission Board’s presentation and a message by motivational speaker Zig Ziglar, according to an announcement by Jack Graham, SBC president, during the Feb. 17 meeting of the SBC Executive Committee in Nashville, Tenn.

Wednesday afternoon will return to being an open period between the luncheons hosted by SBC seminaries and the closing SBC session, Graham said.

“Kingdom First” will be the theme of this year’s convention, Graham said.

This year’s meeting will be preceded by the SBC’s first-ever Kingdom Family Rally during the closing session of the SBC Pastors’ Conference on Monday evening, June 16.

A video message about the rally is accessible by going to the SBC website, www.sbc.net, then selecting Family Life Council.

The message, from Tom Elliff, chairman of the council, underscores the potential value of the rally for all Southern Baptist families. Elliff is a former SBC president and pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Del City, Okla.
