ST. LOUIS (BP)–About 150 alumni and guests attended the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary National Alumni Association luncheon June 11 at the America’s Center in St. Louis.
Midwestern President Phil Roberts updated alumni on the recent purchase of property just north of the Kansas City campus, noting it is the first time in 40 years that additional space for offices and student services has been acquired.
Roberts also reported an increase in both admissions inquiries and financial gifts.
“For the first time in 20 years, Midwestern is debt-free,” he said.
Two Midwestern graduates were named as alumni of the year — William Curp, director of missions for Jefferson Baptist Association south of St. Louis, and Dewey Hickey, a retired state convention executive and North American Mission Board staff member.
Bob Mills, head of the missions department for the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists, was elected as the alumni association’s president-elect for 2003-04.
