LifeWay conference centers announce summer schedules


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–LifeWay Glorieta and LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Centers have announced summer conference schedules for 2002.

A range of training events is designed to meet the needs of all age groups, church staff and lay leadership positions.

The 2002 Glorieta summer conference schedule is Sunday School Leadership 1, June 17-21; Sunday School Leadership 2, June 21-24; Sunday School Leadership 3, June 24-28; Minister’s Family Weekend, July 5-8; National Conference for Church Leadership, July 8-12; Church Music Leadership, July 13-19; Discipleship and Family Week, July 20-26; National Collegiate Week, Aug.3-9.

The 2002 Ridgecrest summer conference schedule is Church Music Leadership Conference, June 15-21; Discipleship and Family Week, June 29-July 5; Minister’s Family Weekend, June 21-24; National Conference for Church Leadership, June 24-28; Sunday School Leadership 1, July 15-19; Sunday School Leadership 2, July 19-22; Sunday School Leadership 3, July 22-26; Black Church Leadership Conference, Aug. 5-9.

At Green Lake (Wis.), Kingdom@Work will be offered July 1-5.

Following are brief descriptions of the conference center events:

Black Church Leadership Conference
Aimed at all leaders in the church, the conference features a comprehensive program of training and spiritual renewal, learning from some of today’s most gifted Bible study leaders, conference facilitators and guest speakers. LifeWay, the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, Woman’s Missionary Union and Annuity Board jointly sponsor this conference.

Church Music Leadership Conference
Designed for every music leader, regardless of church size, worship style or previous training, this conference offers music, worship and drama leaders training, inspiration, fellowship and a break from the routine.

Discipleship and Family Week
Designed for the growth and enjoyment of ministry leaders and their families, this conference offers training and resources to help church leaders discover a clearer vision for discipleship. Specialized training will be offered in two tracks at each conference center. Activities for preschoolers, children and youth will be available during both weeks.

Kingdom@Work
Leadership development is offered for every church leader and focuses on the characteristics and issues related to church leadership, personal and professional development and leadership skills. Specific ministry areas addressed are deacons, age group work, drama, recreation, committee, committee/teams, staff roles and media library. A full program of activities is planned for preschool, children and teens attending with their parents.

Minister’s Family Weekend
Designed especially for church staff and their families, this event is a relaxed, fun experience. It enables church staff to step away from the pressure and responsibilities of work and to explore together the uniqueness of being a pastor or staff family through focused Bible study, worship, dialogue, games, activities, family option time and family celebration.

National Collegiate Week
This seven-day conference is designed for college students, college age adults, high school graduates and college workers. Students can praise, worship, dream, discover and participate in workshops on young-adult topics, which include dating, discipleship, priorities and witnessing.

National Conference for Church Leadership
NCCL provides training and inspiration for every leader in the church. Conference tracks highlight personal, professional and skill development for each area of leadership. At Ridgecrest only, conferences also will be offered for Hispanic pastors and church leaders. Special features include personal consultations with church stewardship consultants, a personal financial planner, a church architecture consultant, an SBC Annuity Board representative, a pastoral counselor and LifeWay Church Leadership consultants.

On Our Knees (National Conference for Prayer)
Church staff and lay leaders will take closer looks at biblical models for prayer, learning what it means to pray without ceasing as life in the Spirit becomes a walk in the Spirit.

Ridgecrest Summer Camps
Camp Ridgecrest for Boys and Camp Crestridge for Girls, located in Ridgecrest, N.C., offer more than 70 years of experience in meeting the mental, physical, social and physical needs of children, while helping them develop Christian values.

Sunday School Leadership
Informative and applicable conferences will be available for leaders of all age groups and leadership positions. Participants will be offered materials, knowledge and motivation to multiply leaders for ministry. LifeWay consultants and leaders from churches with healthy, successful Sunday schools will share information in classroom settings.
